Condition
• MIL on.
• One or both of the following DTCs is stored in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 01):
• DTC P013E00 (Bank 1 sensor 2 delayed response – rich to lean)
• DTC P014A00 (Bank 2 sensor 2 delayed response – rich to lean)
• Vehicle mileage is under 5,000 miles.
Technical Background
During the break-in phase of the catalytic converter, the mat surrounding the converter core emits small amounts
of fumes that can slow the rear oxygen sensor response time. The sensors usually burn this when heated.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
1. Before proceeding, confirm that one or both of the DTCs listed in the Service section is present:
• If vehicle mileage is less than 5,000 miles, delete the DTC(s). Do not replace the oxygen sensors or
catalytic converter, as this will not resolve the issue.
• If vehicle mileage is more than 5,000 miles, replace the rear oxygen sensor that corresponds with the DTC.
Note rear oxygen sensor positioning in ElsaPro, as the converters cross over behind engine.
