SUBJECT: Recall 142 – 2016 Tucson (TL) Tow Hitch Harness Repair
(#16-01-021)
Hyundai Motor America is launching Recall 142 for certain 2016 MY
Tucson vehicles. If an affected 2016 Tucson equipped with the Hyundai
accessory tow package is driven with a trailer, it is possible that
the trailer’s lights would not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle
Safety Standards.
Technical Service Bulletin #16-01-021 provides a procedure for the
repair of the tow hitch harness.
In order to identify only those vehicles affected by Recall 142 it
will be necessary to access Hyundai Motor America’s “Warranty Vehicle
Information” screen via WEBDCS before starting the repair. The
“Warranty Vehicle Information” screen will identify affected vehicles
with an open Recall 142.
A listing of VEHICLES is also located on WEBDCS, SERVICE tab, select
INFORMATION, and select UNCOMPLETED CAMPAIGN VIN LISTING – RETAILED.
TSB #16-01-021 will be available on Hyundai’s Service Website on April
27, 2016. It contains instructions on performing the service.
A shipment of Harness Repair Kits began shipping on April 27,
2016 to affected dealers with in stock vehicles. Additional parts
can be ordered from your Facing PDC by providing an applicable
Recall 142 VIN.
Customer notification letters will begin the end of May 2016.
