Dealers must perform this Recall Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty
Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
Description: The 2015 - 2016 Sonata (LF), 2016 Sonata Hybrid (LF HEV), and 2017 Elantra (AD)
features a two stage (primary and secondary) frontal driver airbag. Due to a manufacturing error, the
second stage for the airbag may not have been properly installed in some vehicles. In the event of a
collision requiring frontal second stage airbag deployment, the driver's second stage airbag will not
deploy, increasing the risk of injury. This bulletin describes the procedure to replace the Driver
Airbag (DAB) to correct this condition.
NOTE: This recall involves a total of 33 vehicles, 30 2015 - 2016 Sonatas, one 2016 Sonata Hybrid,
and two 2017 Elantras.
Applicable Vehicles: Certain 2015 - 2016 Sonata (LF), 2016 Sonata Hybrid (LF HEV), and 2017
