If these vehicles have or are later equipped with rear PTO, the operator may be exposed to high temperature exhaust components. Customers have raised concerns about having a heat shield on previous model units. If you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before you perform it. 1 Secure the vehicle for service by parking it on a flat level surface, applying the parking brake, chocking the rear wheels, and placing the transmission in neutral or park. 2 Loosely install brackets on exhaust pipe. Use heat shield to position brackets. Note: Slotted holes at the top. W2111563 3 Secure heat shield to brackets. W2111562 Page 2(4) Mack Trucks Field Service Bulletin Date 5.2016 4 Tighten mounting bracket bolts to 40 ±5 Nm (30 ±4 lb-ft). 5 Secure heat shield bolts. 6 Tighten heat shield bolts to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft). 7 Remove the wheel chocks.
