Description of Change
This document introduces a new oxygen sensor wiring harness adapter, Part Number
5340715.
Reason for Change
Vapors can migrate through the engine wiring harness to the reference chamber of the oxygen
sensor, resulting in inaccurate readings. The oxygen sensor wiring harness adapter provides a
solid barrier between the oxygen sensor and the engine wiring harness, preventing
contamination.

The new oxygen sensor wiring harness adapter, Part Number 5340715, is placed inline
between the engine wiring harness connector and the oxygen sensor connector.
NOTE: On some engines, the oxygen sensor wiring harness adapter and oxygen sensor
are mated as a permanent assembly through the use of a connector lock. The oxygen
sensor wiring harness adapter and oxygen sensor must be replaced as an assembly.
Instructions for engines that are not equipped with a oxygen sensor wiring harness adapter:
When replacing oxygen sensor, Part Number 4954893, with oxygen sensor, Part Number
5341762, a blue silicone seal, Part Number 5348233, must be installed on the male end of the
engine wiring harness connector before being connected to the female connector of the
oxygen sensor wiring harness adapter. Installation instructions for this scenario are provided
below.
1. Connect oxygen sensor wiring harness adapter to wiring harness connector on the oxygen
sensor. See Figure 1 and 2.

2. Install blue silicon seal, Part Number 5348233, onto male end of the engine wiring harness
connector. See Figure 3 and 4.
