Today, January 23, 2016, American Honda is announcing two product updates for 480,893 model year 2011-14 and
130,219 model year 2015 Odyssey vehicles to update the vehicle certification label and replace, as applicable per
model year, the current Owner’s Manual booklet or CD and Owner’s Guide.
Basic Problem
The trailer hitch weight was not properly calculated into the gross axle weight rating (GAWR) on the vehicle certification
label and in the Owner’s Manual. This can create a situation where the vehicle exceeds the indicated gross axle weight
rating.
Additionally in the case of the 2015 Odyssey, the Owner’s Guide incorrectly states the towing capacity of the vehicle is
1,500 lbs. The Owner’s Guide should show a table listing the towing capacity based on the number of passengers in the
vehicle.
The Repair
Apply the vehicle cer fica on correc on s cker on all vehicles affected and depending on model year
replace the Owner’s Manual booklet or CD and Owner’s Guide .
Service Bulletin
Service bulletins 16-003, Product Update: 2011-14 Odyssey Vehicle Certification Label and 16-004, Product Update:
2015 Odyssey Vehicle Certification Label have been posted to the Service Information System today in support of this
campaign. They include parts, warranty and repair procedure information related to these product updates.
Parts Information
Kits are being prepared by model year applica on. Due to limited parts availability kits are being
allocated to dealers based on immediate need for unsold and CPO units. Kits are expected to be
available for open order by mid February 2016. Dealers will be no fied again when parts are available
for open order.
Client Notification
American Honda expects to notify owners of affected vehicles by the end of February, 2016.
