SERVICE ACTION: REAR DOOR FRAME MOLDING
REPLACEMENT (SA 236)
This bulletin provides the procedure for replacing the rear door frame molding on certain Sportage (QL)
SX trim level vehicles produced from December 24, 2015 through January 26, 2016, due to the
possibility of molding separation.
 NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed
during the warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the
warranty period will require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service> Warranty Coverage>
Warranty Coverage Inquiry> Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service
Action reports are available on WebDCS (Consumer Affairs> Not Completed Recall>
Recall VIN> Select Report), which includes a list of affected vehicles.

Replacement Procedure:
1.
Verify that the vehicle is on the
SA236 VIN list.
2.
Roll down the window (A).

Loosen the weather strip.
Remove the screws (B).

Remove the screw (C).
Remove and save the rear door belt
line molding for re-use (D).

Loosen the weather strip (E).

Remove the door molding from both
sides and replace them with new ones
(F).

Replace the parts in the reverse order of
removal.
 NOTICE
Make sure not to scratch
painted body parts.

Replace all damaged clips
with new ones.
Use tape to protect the body
paint during any clip removal
(G).
