Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty
Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
Description:
Some 2017MY Santa Fe Sport (AN) vehicles may experience the fuel nozzle prematurely clicking off
during refueling. This bulletin provides the procedure to replace the Fuel Tank Vent Valve (FLW) to
correct this condition.

NOTE 1: Submit Claim on Campaign Claim Entry Screen.
NOTE 2: If a part is found in need of replacement while performing Service Campaign T1 L and
the affected part is still under warranty, submit a separate warranty claim using the same Repair
Order. If the affected part is out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval Request for goodwill
consideration rior to erformin the work.

SUBJECT:
FUEL TANK VENT VALVE REPLACEMENT (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T1 L)
Service Procedure:
1.
Remove the luggage floor package tray
and left rear seat assembly.
2.
Remove the luggage floor covering
panel and fuel pump service cover
assembly (A).
3.
Disconnect the fuel pump connector
(B). Start the engine and let it idle till it
stops on its own to reduce the residual
fuel pressure.
Turn the ignition to OFF.
Disconnect:
• Fuel tank pressure sensor (C)
• Fuel feed tube quick connector
(D)
• Vapor tube quick connector (E)

Utilitize SST J-45722 (F) for removal
and installation of the fuel pump locking
ring (G).
5.
Disconnect vapor tube quick connector
(H).
Remove the fuel pump & sender
module (I).
Take caution to prevent interference
damage to the fuel level sensor float
assembly.
6.
Transfer fuel from the tank into a
suitable fuel container.

Reach through the opening to locate
the FLW valve (J) which is positioned
at the top middle part of the fuel tank.
The fuel tank shown was
removed from the vehicle and cut
open to expose the FLW valve
(J) for demonstration purpose
only.

FUEL TANK VENT VALVE REPLACEMENT (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T1 L)
Align the SST (K) with the retainer (L)
or the FLVV valve and attach it to the
valve until a snap is heard or felt.
Slightly shift the tool side to side to
ensure that it is secured.
When inserting the SST to the FLW,
be sure to properly align the SST under
the locking clip on both sides as shown.

Once the SST is secured, pull down on
the SST to remove the FLW.

Insert the new FLVV valve with the
guide pin (M) facing towards the front of
the vehicle.
Do not use the SST to install FLVV.
Make sure a snap is heard or felt to
ensure proper installation of the FLVV.

Feel both sides of the FLVV after
installation to make sure both clips are
properly engaged.

FLVV is a directional part. Make sure to install in the proper
direction/orientation. If FLVV is installed in the incorrect direction,
customer may experience fuel nozzle premature clicking off condition
and the FLVV could not be removable with the SST.
•
FLW needs to be fully and properly installed with both clips engaged.
•
If the FLW is not properly installed, the FLW may not function
properly.
Reinstall all the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
Clear any DTCs in the ECM using GOS.
Clear any DTCs in the BlueLink system per instructions of TSB 12-BE-005-2.
