MODE SWITCHES FROM SIRIUSXM® OR FM TO AM
NOTE: Sirius will be broadcasting a free preview trial (February 4 th through February 19th)
for deactivated/unsubscribed customers that should result in a refresh of the channels.
This Pitstop provides information to address possible customer complaints on AVN 4.0
(Navigation Head Unit) relating to:



Mode Switches to AM (usually from SiriusXM®, FM, CD, other media mode or from
Navigation) after startup.
“Preparing Sirius” is shown on the display prior to the unit switching to AM.
Issue began at the start of the New Year (after January 1st, 2015).
SiriusXM® sent out an over the air update to their channel line-up on January 2nd, 2015 in order
to remove holiday channels and to add in New Year’s channels. This update caused “Preparing
Sirius” to occur at start up (or a brief time after start up) and mode switches to AM from
SiriusXM®, FM or other modes). SiriusXM® has corrected the concern in the over the air update
rolled out on January 6th, 2015.
Do NOT replace head units or any other components for this concern. If vehicle has not been
started or audio has not been powered ON since January 6th, 2015 10:00 AM (East Coast
Time), one more “Preparing Sirius” automatic update will occur to correct the issue. NOTE: The
update will usually start automatically if the vehicle is in an open area with no
trees/buildings blocking the antenna.
If the issues persist after the Sirius update, press the reset button on the head unit (usually
found close to the CD loading slot), disconnect the negative terminal from the battery or remove
the audio fuse for five (5) minutes.
