This TSB instructs dealers to apply grease in a specified area to address the noise. Parts replacement is not necessary. BACKGROUND Customers may complain of a noise from the steering wheel area when turning the steering wheel in either direction. It may be described as a clicking, creaking, or rubbing noise. This may be caused by the steering wheel assembly rubbing against the ribs of the clock spring. Application of the specified grease on the ribs has been shown to eliminate the noise. AFFECTED VEHICLES 2014 - 2015 Outlander Sport/RVR (MMNA built) REPAIR PROCEDURE ! CAUTION Use all tools with care to prevent scratches on interior trim. 1. Remove the steering wheel. Follow the instructions in the Service Manual, group 37, Steering Wheel Removal and Installation. 2. Apply a thin layer of Multemp SL-V grease (p/n 4405A179) to the 2 tabs as shown. NOTE: Apply between 5 - 15 mg of grease to the tabs. Do NOT apply excessive grease. CAUTION: Be careful not to strike the brush against the rib or damage the rib in any way. CAUTION: Do NOT use a brush that was previously used with another product (e.g., a different grease). CAUTION: Make sure no foreign material is adhering to the brush. Reinstall the steering wheel and perform steering wheel sensor calibration per the Service Manual, group 35C, Steering Wheel Sensor Calibration. 4. Recheck for any noise from the steering wheel clock spring area. Ensure that the steering column cover is not making contact with the steering wheel. 5.
