Model(s) Year VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment S6, S7, RS 7, A8, S8 2013 - 2014 All 4.0 TFSI Condition REVISION HISTORY Revision Date Purpose 2 - Revised Warranty (Added GFF time) 1 7/1/2015 Initial publication • MIL on. • Customer may report that the engine runs irregularly. • One of the following DTCs is stored in the engine control module (ECM), J623: • DTC P001100 (A camshaft position (bank 1) timing over-advanced or system performance) • DTC P002100 (A camshaft position (bank 2) timing over-advanced or system performance) Technical Background • On the camshaft adjustment valve, the filter element can loosen (Figure 1). • There is no consequential damage from loosened particles in the oil circuit. Technical Service Bulletin Production Solution Optimized control valve production. Service 1. The camshaft adjustment valve is fitted in four different positions. Check the affected camshaft adjustment control valve (see DTC entry). The following list shows which component is affected, based on event entry: • N205 – cylinder bank 1, inlet side • N318 – cylinder bank 1, exhaust side • N208 – cylinder bank 2, inlet side • N319 – cylinder bank 2, exhaust side 2. Remove connector (Figure 2) from control valve with DTC. 3. Remove bolt (Figure 2) from control valve with DTC, then remove valve. 4. Install O-ring on new control valve.
