During vehicle assembly, the fuel tank breather tube may not have properly routed and installed. No parts are required for this action. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles currently in dealer inventory are affected by this inventory service action using Service Comm I.D. PC494. 2. Use the attached procedure to inspect the vehicle. If the fuel tank breather tube is correctly routed, file a claim for the inspection. If the fuel tank breather tube is not correctly routed, provide the requested information in an email to [email protected] and await further instruction. Instructions and claims information will be provided within 48 hours. Note: Dealers should continue to check new arriving inventory for applicability. 3. Dealers are requested to inspect any affected vehicle in dealer new or pre-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Place the vehicle on a suitable lift and raise the vehicle to gain access to the underside of the truck. Front of Vehicle Parking Brake Cables Fuel Tank Breather Tube 2. Locate the fuel tank breather tube and where it is fitted into the bed rail (Figure 1). From the center of the vehicle, look up toward the rear of the truck, between the parking brake cables. Exhaust Fuel Tank Figure 1 3. Inspect for the fuel tank breather tube and determine if it is present and properly secured to the bed rail. Figure 2 shows the breather tube properly installed to the bed rail. Figure 3 shows the breather tube present, but not installed in the bed rail. Figure 4 shows the breather tube is not present and may be found on the top of the fuel tank. If YES, then lower the vehicle and remove it from the lift, submit a warranty claim using Op Code PC4940 (see claims info), and release the vehicle. If NO, then continue to HOLD the vehicle. Do not submit warranty claim.
