WATER LEAK/CONDENSATION IN REAR COMBINATION
TAIL LAMP(S)
On some 2014~2015MY Forte (YD) vehicles, customers may complain about water droplets
forming inside the rear tail lamp lenses following a rainstorm or after washing their vehicle.
These water droplets are more visible at night and the quantity of water present is more than
just a thin film of condensation which may not easily evaporate. This concern is caused by a
gap between the tail lamp housing gasket and vehicle body which allows water to infiltrate into
the tail lamp. To resolve this concern, order new foam gaskets and install them between the left
and right tail lamps as required and the body of the vehicle, as outlined below. See off-set
production dates below for the proper gaskets needed:

Service Procedure: Outside Combination Rear Taillight
1.
Open the trunk.
2.
Remove the outer combination
taillight access cover (A).

3.
Remove the connector from the
outer combination taillight assembly
(B).

4.
Remove four (4) nuts (C) securing
the outer combination taillight
assembly to the chassis.

Remove the outer combination
taillight assembly (D) from the
vehicle.

Remove
the
original
outer
combination taillight gasket (E).

7.
Install the replacement gasket onto
the taillight.
8.
Re-install all removed components
by reversing the removal steps.
9.
Replace the taillight gasket on the
opposite side taillight.

Inside Combination Rear Taillight:
1.
Locate the trunk grab handle (A).

Remove two (2) screws (B) from
the trunk grab handle.

3.
Remove nine (9) plastic rivets (C)
securing the trunk trim to the trunk
lid.

Disconnect the inner combination
taillight connector (D)

the inner combination taillight to the
trunk lid.

taillight (F) from the trunk lid.

Install the replacement gasket (G)
onto the inner combination taillight.

style taillights, install the additional
strip gasket (H), as shown.

install the additional strip gasket (I),
as shown.
10.
Re-install all removed components
by reversing the removal steps.

Replace the taillight gasket, and
install the additional strip gasket, on
the opposite side inner combination
taillight.
