2016 MAZDA2, 2016 CX-3 - UNUSUAL STEERING NOISE AND / OR VIBRATION WHEN TURNING

2016 Mazda2 vehicles with VINs lower than 3MD DJ ****** 106153 (produced before January 18, 2016)
2016 CX-3 vehicles with VINs lower than JM1 DK ****** 133287 (produced before January 21, 2016)
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit an unusual noise from around the driver’s foot area when repeatedly turning the
steering wheel to the left or right. A vibration is felt at the steering wheel when the noise occurs.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Replace the intermediate shaft (B). Refer to MS3 online “INTERMEDIATE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION”.
NOTE: Replace joint bolts A (Replacement part) with new ones.
3. Test drive to confirm noise concern has been resolved and the steering wheel is straight.
