SUBJECT:
Revision to Service Procedure for Diagnosing
Secondary Air Injection System DTCs
DATE: 10/15/14
INTRODUCTION
This Service Information bulletin provides additional helpful information to assist in the diagnosis of
DTCs related to the secondary air injection system.
SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION
Whenever diagnosing any of the air injection system-related DTCs listed in the table below, there
is a possibility the root cause may be related to component(s) found on the opposite bank of the
engine for the displayed DTC. For example, if a DTC P0413 (switching valve “A”) is stored, follow
the diagnosis for both P0413 and P0416 (switching valve “B”) in the appropriate Service Manual.
Another example: if a DTC P2440 (Bank 1-related DTC) is found, follow the diagnosis for P2440
and P2442 (Bank 2-related DTC). Spending the extra diagnostic time initially will decrease the
chances of repeat repair visits and minimize customer inconvenience.
