2016 TOYOTA 4RUNNER with 71196.0 miles

Driving last week and check engine light along with traction control light came on. Hooked my ob2 scanner to port but came up with no codes. Drove it a few more days and eventually lights went out. Fast forward a week and lights came back on. Same routine with the ob2 but this time the code P2443 came up. Googled it and " secondary air injection system switching valve stuck closed bank 2". Found out there is a huge history with this problem not only with my 4runner but with tacomas, tundras and sequoias. With certain years of tundras and sequioas, Toyota has paid for this fix. Why not the 4runners and tacomas??Same problem!! This whole thing is a big sham . It will cost about $2000 plus for this issue to be fixed. Where i come from, this is robbery. Knowingly selling vehicles with a expensive problem and not recalling them to be fixed.

2012 TOYOTA TACOMA with 48020.0 miles

Code P2443 valve stuck closed came up when my "trac and cel" lights came up on the dash. This happened on startup. This code is a failure of the secondary air injection switching valve stuck closed. This condition can lead to lost power when driving called a "limp mode" and is occurring on Toyota Tacoma"s at around the 50k mile mark as i have found on the Tacoma world website. This issue has also been noted on the Toyota tundra as well and a tsb has been issued to fix this problem but not for the Tacoma. I have noted that my power has diminished since the lights came on (3 days). I checked with my Toyota dealer and they say they have no history of this happening. Tacoma owners say this issue is well known and Toyota is failing to address a fix. The loss of power can occur anytime and if it happens on a busy interstate or highway can result in accidents.

2012 TOYOTA TACOMA with 78000.0 miles

The check engine light and the trac off light came on as i was merging onto the interstate. I immediately stopped the vehicle, pulled over, and took my 2012 Toyota Tacoma with 78,000 miles to the mechanic where i left it overnight for them to look at it in the morning. Running a diagnostic they found code P2443 - secondary air injection switching valve stuck. I asked if they had dealt with this before and they said this is a common problem for Toyota and they have done recalls on both the tundra and sequoia models that have had these issues, but the Tacoma hasn't had a recall yet, even though it seems to be just as common with the same parts. They said the cost of parts and labor would be around $2,000. When i asked them if the vehicle was safe to drive off their lot they said these codes can cause the Tacoma to go into "limp mode" where you can loose power, acceleration, and won't be able to go over 45mph. I hate to think what could have happened if i had kept merging onto the interstate and tried to get up to speed only to "limp" into traffic or if this had happened a minute later on the interstate! Every thread i read online from multiple sources show people having similar issues from as low as 1,000 miles on the truck. The issues with the secondary air injection pump and switching valves seems most common between 50,000-80,000 miles, but eventually does happen in the 2012-2015 tocoma models.

2010 SUBARU FORESTER with 17000.0 miles

Hello- i am experiencing continued issues after recall: 16v-738. I began attempting to resolve this issue in september of 2016. The issue impacts the secondary air system and my vehicle would not pass ca smog. I have to have a passing smog to renew my ca registration. I failed smog and sent the vehicle to my mechanic. My mechanic performed diagnosis and determined stored P2441 and P2443 codes (secondary air valves open). Around the same time, october 2016, Subaru released recall: 16v-738. This addresses a single relay in the secondary air series. I proceeded to schedule and take my vehicle into rancho grande Subaru in san luis obispo. I also opened a claim with Subaru corporate customer support sr #:1-19856672948). Subaru began working on my vehicle mid october 2016 and placed me in a rental suv. I did not receive any communication from Subaru, so i followed up. The tech informed me the vehicle is ready to be picked up mid november. I visited, picked up the vehicle, drove it 3 miles and heard a loud screech from the secondary air pump. I returned the vehicle, informed the tech and he rudely responded "was that noise happening when you dropped it off". No, i responded and they resisted placing me in a rental for another 3 weeks. Late december, i followed up once again due to lack of communication and the vehicle was ready 3 days later. I drove the vehicle 200 miles and now the same check engine light is on, traction control light is flashing and vehicle intermittently accelerated. I checked the codes and the same codes remain. I feel the scope of components requires all components in the secondary air system to be replaced. The faulty relay was on the on position and has exhausted all the components in the series. This is a nation wide issue do http://www.SubaruForester.Org/vbulletin/f87/secondary-air-valves-P2443-P2441-63347/. T
