CONDITION SUMMARY:
NOTE: Only applicable to vehicles with manual luggage compartment lid.
Situation: Only on vehicles with manual luggage compartment lids, the luggage compartment lid may foul the rear
bumper when closing, resulting in paint damage to the bumper.
Cause: This may be caused by stack up of tolerances and poor management of the closing energy of the luggage
compartment lid.
Action: Should a Customer express concern, follow the Service Instruction below.
PARTS:
NOTE: Only if paintwork is required: an allowance ($600.00 [CAD] / $450.00 [USD]) has been provided to
cover the cost of locally sourcing paint, materials, and sundries.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:
STEPS 1-5: ALL MODELS
1. Open the luggage compartment lid; remove and discard the rubber seal.

2. Install a new luggage compartment lid rubber seal.
• Close the luggage compartment lid.

3. With the luggage compartment lid closed, measure the vertical gap between the bumper and the luggage
compartment lid at points A, B and C.
• If all three dimensions are 5.50 mm or more, do not continue with this Service Instruction.
• If any of the three dimensions is less than 5.50 mm, go to Step 4.

Check the luggage compartment lid to rear fender panels for profile flushness dimensions on both sides of the
vehicle.
• If the luggage compartment lid is more than 1 mm under flush, go to Step 5.
• If the luggage compartment lid is 1 mm or less under flush, go to Step 6.

5. Adjust the luggage compartment lid (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-03: Body Closures - Luggage
Compartment Lid Alignment).
• For luggage compartment alignment data (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-26: Body Repairs - Vehicle
Specific Information and Tolerance Checks - Body and Frame).
• After the luggage compartment lid has been aligned, return to Step 3.
6. Remove the rear bumper cover (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-19: Rear Bumper).
• XE (X760): go to Step 17.
• XF (X260): go to Step 7.
STEPS 7-16: XF (X260) ONLY. XE (X760) - GO TO STEP 17.
7. Disconnect the battery ground lead (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 100-00: - General Information - General
Service Information).
8. Disconnect and reposition the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) harness where fitted.

9. Remove the rear bumper support bracket.

10. Using a suitable tool, remove and discard the two hooks from the rear bumper support bracket.
11. Remove and discard the foam washer from the Y center locator.

12. Using a suitable tool, remove the section of the Y center locator flush with the base as shown in blue. The
remaining piece of the Y center locator should be 5mm as shown.

13. Install the rear bumper support bracket.
• Starting from the center fixing, working outwards while pushing down on the bracket, tighten the fixings to lower
the installed position of the bracket.
• Torque: 1.7Nm

14. Make sure the center fastener is central in the radius of the bumper support bracket.
• If the fastener is not centered, loosen the fasteners, realign, and install while pushing down on the bracket.

15. Install the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) wiring harness where fitted.

16. Connect the battery ground lead (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 100-00: General Information - General
Service Information).
1. Go to Step 19.
STEPS 17-18: XE (X760) ONLY
17. Loosen the three central fixings on the bumper support bracket so that the bracket position can be adjusted.
18. Starting from the center fixing, working outwards while pushing down on the bracket, tighten the fixings to lower
the installed position of the bumper support bracket.
• Torque: 1.7Nm

STEPS 19-22: ALL MODELS
19. Using a suitable tool, enlarge the two bumper holes as shown to increase the vertical height of the hole at the top
by 1-1.5mm.

20. Only if necessary: if damaged by contact with the luggage compartment lid, repair the rear bumper.
21. Install the rear bumper cover (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-19: Rear Bumper).
22. Close the luggage compartment lid and check that the vertical gap between the bumper cover and the luggage
compartment lid at points A, B, and C is 5.50mm or greater at all three points.
