Circuit Range Performance
This concern is typically caused by the vacuum pump or its relay. Manually test the vacuum pump by
supplying power and ground to the pump to verify that the pump will create vacuum. If the pump does
not operate or create vacuum, replace the pump and relay.
The relay can be in two different locations as a result of vehicle equipment options. To help identify the
correct relay position (R5 or R6 location,) please remove one of the two relays, cycle the key on and then
scan for faults. The vacuum pump relay usually will not set faults when removed. If the R5/R6 location
relay is removed and faults are set for the Auxiliary Heater, the other location is for the vacuum pump.
