Issue:
A small volume of 14 model year (MY), 15MY Evoque (L538) and 15MY Discovery
Sport (L550) vehicles are flagging the following TCM DTC codes during SDD DTC read
(which are all related to 9HP48 automatic transmission).
• P07D4-07
• P2704-07
• P07E7-07
Cause:
Internal transmission diagnostics have been triggered. Multiple root causes exist.
Action:
Check the transmission serial number (TSN) and make a note. (This is visible without
component removal).
• If DTC P07D4-07 is stored and the TSN is below 382840, replace the transmission.
If TSN is above 382840 continue from point 1.
• If DTC P2704-07 is stored and the TSN is below 063584, replace the transmission,
if TSN is above 063584 continue from point 1.
• If DTC P07E7-07 is stored and the TSN is below 081206, replace the transmission,
if TSN is above 081206 continue from point 1.
1. Check the transmission oil level, if it is found to be low, check the transmission for
leaks and repair as required. When checking for leaks pay close attention to the
following locations. Transmission Cover Gasket, Main Case to Torque Convertor
Housing, Transmission Oil Cooler (TOC) to Transmission Housing and the
Transmission to PTU joint.
2. Update the TCM software o the latest level.
3. Re-test vehicle, and release to customer if fault does not return.
