• Recall 124116 [USA]: If the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash.
  Jaguar land rover north america, lcc (land rover) is recalling certain model year 2015 discovery sport manufactured september 17, 2014 through november 3, 2014 and 2014-2015 range rover evoque vehicles manufactured july 15, 2013 through july 1, 2015. In the affected vehicles the transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral.
  land rover will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the automatic transmission serial number and if required, will update the transmission software to prevent the transmission from shifting into neutral due to a faulty crimp, free of charge.   Jaguar land rover north america, llc (land rover) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 land rover discovery sport vehicles manufactured september 17, 2014, to march 5, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the license plate illumination lamp may fall out. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

• Recall R/2016/131 [UK]: Fuel may leak
  The under bonnet fuel hoses routed on top of the engine may chafe against a plastic moulded noise suppressing material retaining posts on the underside of the engine top cover. The fuel hoses can over time chafe through the protective sleeve and fuel hose. Should the fuel hose wear through there will be an increased diesel fuel odour due to diesel fuel leaking. If this warning is ignored diesel fuel may leak onto the exhaust manifold (potential fire hazard) or onto the road surface (potential skid hazard).

• Recall 2018180 [Canada]: Steering
  On certain vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage during winter months (ontario, quebec, new brunswick, nova scotia, prince edward island, and newfoundland & labrador), the bolts that attach the power steering gear assist motor to the gear housing may corrode and fracture. This could allow the power steering gear assist motor to move, causing the belt to slip which could result in a loss of power steering assist. A loss of power steering assist would require additional steering effort which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the aluminum mounting bolts with coated steel bolts and will apply a corrosion-preventative sealer around the gear housing and connecting bolts. If a bolt is found to be broken or breaks during the course of the repair, a replacement steering gear will be installed.

• Desiccated air bag inflator rupture investigation # EA21002

  From 2000 through 2017, takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("psan") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004l. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 blomquist report at www.Nhtsa.Gov/sites/nhtsa.Gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.Pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in us vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced.In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004l that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All takata inflators produced with propellant 2004l contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated psan inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- takata (now known as tk global), the independent testing coalition, and exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of takata desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004l (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004l is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l.The office of defects investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated psan frontal inflators manufactured by takata. This investigation will require extensive information on takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated psan inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.Gov/recalls?Nhtsaid=ea21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). • Loss of brake power assist investigation # EA20001

  On december 1, 2018, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened preliminary evaluation pe18-014 to investigate allegations of brake vacuum pump failure in model year (my) 2012 through 2014 range rover evoque vehicles. To date, odi has received 7 reports which allege vacuum pump failure while driving, resulting in a loss of power assisted braking. Additionally, in response to odis information request (ir) for pe18-014, jaguar land rover (jlr) provided odi with 26 complaints and field reports related to the alleged defect. All the complaints and field reports identified by odi involved my 2012-2013 range rover evoque vehicles. Odis analysis of warranty data supplied by jlr identified 198 claims related to the alleged defect in my 2012-2013 vehicles, resulting in a claim rate of 0.84 percent. Odi identified just 6 claims in the my 2014 range rover evoque vehicles, resulting in a claim rate of 0.09 percent. The subject vehicles are equipped with 2.0 liter gasoline turbocharged direct injection (gtdi) engines that utilize a mechanically driven single vane rotary vacuum pump supplied by magna international (magna). The 2.0l gtdi engines and subject magna vacuum pumps were used by jlr in the following applications: my 2012-2017 land rover range rover evoque (l538), my 2013-2015 land rover lr2 (l359), my 2015-2017 land rover discovery sport (l550), my 2013-2015 jaguar xf (x250), and my 2017 jaguar xe (x760). Field return analyses of failed vacuum pumps from these products has determined that the failures were caused by blockage of the orifice supplying lubricating oil to the pump. Magna and jlr have attributed the blockage to oil "sludge" resulting from failure to perform oil changes at the specified maintenance intervals.This investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea) covering the my 2012-2013 range rover evoque vehicles (subject vehicles). Other jlr products equipped with 2.0l gtdi engines and subject magna vacuum pumps will be included in the ea as peer vehicles. The ea will further assess the causes of pump failures in the subject and peer vehicles, the frequency and trends of pump failures in each population, the reasons for differences in experience between subject and peer vehicle applications, and the effects of pump failure on brake system performance in the subject vehicles.The voqs associated with the opening of this investigation are: 10986358, 11025409, 11083348, 11131896, 11149724, 11231234, 11343256.

I need assistance in getting my vehicle recalled. Back in march the engine light came on and the dealer said they reset the code and made a repair to the engine. Last month the engine light came on again and i had to have the car towed to the dealer because i could not go in reverse. The dealer is now telling me i need a new transmission which cost $11,000.00. The car is only 4 years old. Attached is the report the dealer wrote up also it looks like there was a recall on the car but my vin is not included in the recall. My vehicle is still like a new car other than this light on. The dealer is telling me if i drive it the transmission can go up at any time. I paid $56,000.00 for this vehicle back in 2015. The dealer gave me an appraised amount of the car this week and telling me they can only offer me $17,000.00. The car has less than 65,000 miles on it. I have googled to see if there were other customers having this same problem and they are a lot of owners experiencing this same problem. The dealer is trying to get me to purchase a new car. I worked extremely hard to pay this car off. I am in no position to obtain a new monthly payment. I need my vehicle for work. My job requires me to travel and without my car i could possibly loose my job. I would like to have someone investigate this matter at your earliest. I will also be sending this compliant to congress and every television to get some assistance. I would really appreciate any assistance in this matter as soon as possible.

As i left the store, i get to my 2015 land rover discovery sport and use the keyless entry as i usually do. I get in and close the door. I press the push start button and all of a sudden, three different warning alarms are going off. I look at my dash board and see that there's a warning the the car isn't in park, then that the parking brake is not on, then i turn off the car and turn it back on. After that it seemed fine. I reverse and back out of my spot. As i'm turning, my drivers side door swings open, causing me to reach out and shut it and it would not shut. After parking again, i continued for over an hour to try to get the door to shut. The latch was not returning to its normal position.

Engine light repeatedly comes on intermittantly despite multiple attempts to repair by dealership and address error codes over a period of over 2 years and over 20,000 miles (many occurrences between 10k and 31k miles). Dealer manager indicated he would file claim with documentation to land rover, but he has not returned calls the past 3 weeks.

I have changed 3 deferent wipers but no matter what time i install it will skip in the center of driver side, driver and passenger seat belt make buzzing noise, driver door and passenger door make buzzing and clicking noise. Make car has only 26000 miles

Car shifts into neutral unexpectedly. Will be driving and car will shift into neutral and flash telling me to select gear. Cannot select gear until i turn the car off and re-crank it. Has happened to me twice while driving. Thankfully when sitting at a red light waiting to go. I give the car gas then it just shifts into neutral.
