Special Service Message
NOTE: A Special Service Message is a formal communication issued by Land Rover and carries
the same importance of a Technical Service Bulletin. An SSM is a quick method of
communicating "Need To Know" information to the technical service community. SSM's may
be issued in advance of a technical bulletin or may be the only communication on a given
topic. All information contained in Land Rover technical communications are intended for
use by trained, professional technicians with the knowledge, tools, and equipment required
to complete the procedure correctly and safely. It informs the Technicians of conditions that
may occur on some vehicles, or provides information that could assist in correct vehicle and
diagnostic service.

Customers may report the passenger mirror does not
retain memory settings for reverse dip.
Cause
The strategy for Discovery Sport has been changed
from previous vehicle lines and will become the
strategy for future vehicle lines of JLR.
When the reverse gear is selected the passenger
door mirror will dip to a designated
position/angle.
The driver can alter the angle of the mirror whilst
in reverse gear, but cannot store this position as
indicated in the handbook.
Once this reverse manoeuvre has been complete
and a forward gear selected, the mirror will adopt
the stored position for driving forwards.
Action
Please advise customers of this irregularity
between the vehicle feature and the handbook for
reverse memory settings.
JLR shall amend the handbook.
