Situation: The battery may be flat battery and/or the engine may not start.
Cause: This may be caused by the Gateway Module (GWM) staying awake.
Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction outlined below.

1Verify battery condition (see TOPix Workshop Manual, section 414-00: Battery and Charging System General Information > Description and Operation > Battery Care Requirements).
• Any rectification must be submitted as a separate claim.

CAUTION: a Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply must be connected
to the vehicle battery during SDD diagnosis/ module programming .
. &.CAUTION: ensure all ignition 'ON'/ ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform
these steps may cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.

NOTE: SDD must be loaded with DVD143.01 v.217 or later.
2Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the vehicle battery.
3Turn ignition 'ON' (engine not running).
4Connect the Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) system to the vehicle and begin a new session.
SFollow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle and initiating the data
collect sequence.
6Select 'Diagnosis' from the Session Type screen.
7Select the 'Selected Symptoms' tab and then select:
• Electrical > Battery > Charging system > Flat battery or
• Powertrain > Engine system > Starting system > Will not start
SSelect 'continue'.
9Select the 'Recommendations' tab, and then select 'Run' to perform the 'Configure existing module Gateway module' option.
1OFollow all on-screen instructions to complete this task, ensuring all DTCs are cleared.
11Exit the current session.
12Disconnect the SDD and the battery power supply from the vehicle.
