3/13/2019 TOPIx - SSM74310 - AJ20-D4 Engine, MIL Illuminated, P242B-64 logged in PCM Reference SSM74310 Models Discovery / L462 Discovery Sport / L550 Range Rover Evoque / L538 Range Rover Evoque / L551 Range Rover Velar / L560 Title AJ20-D4 Engine, MIL Illuminated, P242B-64 logged in PCM Category Electrical Last modified 04-Mar-2019 00:00:00 Symptom 206000 Warning Indicators Attachments EGT Location 1.JPG (EGT Location 1.JPG) EGT Paint ID 2.jpg (EGT Paint ID 2.jpg) Content Issue Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminated. DTC P242B-64 logged in Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Issue applies to AJ20-D4 engine only. Cause The PCM has detected sensor signal plausibility failures because one or more of the Exhaust Temperature Sensors (ETS) installed on the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) are loose or dislodged. See list below. 1: Temperature sensor – pre catalyst – Green lead - GX73-12B591-AB 2: Temperature sensor – post catalyst – Blue lead - HK83-12B591-DA 3: Temperature sensor – post DPF – Orange lead - HK83-12B591-EA (NAS and EU6D markets only) See “SSM Support – image 1” attached to SSM to verify the location of the sensors 1, 2 and 3. Action Check the ETS on the DPF. 1. Check if one or more of the sensors are out of location or loose. Note the lead colour (green, blue or orange). 2. Take a picture of the issue. 3. Visually inspect the sensors and wiring for damage. Replace them if required. 4. Verify the sensors have a paint mark across the sensor nut and the DPF boss. If not, make a note on the report. See “SSM Support – image 2” attached to SSM. 5. Refit the sensors and torque to 35 Nm using an hexagonal crows foot or slotted socket. 6. Clear DTCs and turn the ignition off. 7. Wait for 60 seconds. 8. Turn the ignition back on and read DTCs. If DTC does not reappear the issue is fixed. https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/content/document/view?id=964790 1/2 3/13/2019 TOPIx - SSM74310 - AJ20-D4 Engine, MIL Illuminated, P242B-64 logged in PCM If DTC P242B-64 is logged in the PCM, replace the sensors that have been found loose or out of location and repeat actions 6-8. 9.
