RE:
Stop Sale/Noncompliance Recall: 2016 HR-V Information Labels
On July 23, 2015, American Honda notified NHTSA of a Noncompliance Recall for approximately 12,000 2016 HR-V
vehicles due to incorrectly applied and/or missing labels. Any new or used units in dealer stock must be inspected
and, if necessary, have the correct label applied per the appropriate service bulletin, 15-052: Noncompliance
Recall: HR-V Emission, Tire, and AIC Labels, 15-053, Noncompliance Recall: HR-V Emission Label, or 15-054:
Noncompliance Recall: HR-V Emission (Trim and Year), Tire, and A/C Labels, prior to sale. Refer to your
eResponsibility report or VIN inquiry to determine which units in your inventory are affected. American Honda Motor Co.
expects to begin customer notification in late September 2015.
Note: Affected vehicles should not be sold until the correct label has been applied. Should an unrepaired vehicle result in
any claim because of the required recall repair, the dealership will be solely responsible to the claimant, and will be
required to defend and indemnify American Honda for any resulting claims.
Basic Problem
Due to manufacturing process errors, the emissions and/or tire labels may be incorrect or missing from the vehicle.
Campaign Information
Service bulletins 15-052, 15-053, and 15-054 have been posted to the Service Information System as of July 24, 2015,
and include warranty, parts, inspection and repair information related to the campaigns. Be sure to select the correct
bulletin based on VIN Inquiry status to avoid any rejected claims.
Parts Information
A small number of non-controlled correction labels are being allocated to all dealers on Friday July 24th. Labels are
expected to arrive at the dealers on Saturday July 25, 2015 via DSO. These labels are intended to cover stop sale or
customer walk-ins that may require label replacement. Additional controlled parts (emissions labels) are available through
the controlled parts ordering system, and will require an affected VIN to order. Note that American Honda expects very
few vehicles will require replacement of any label; please only place orders for emissions labels if a vehicle requiring one
is identified.
Warranty and Repair Information
Warranty and repair information will be detailed in service bulletins 15-052, 15-053, and 15-054.
As always, please be sure to check VIN status inquiry to determine if a particular VIN is affected by this recall.
