Stop Sale/Safety Recall: 2014-15 RLX & 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid CMBS Error
On May 13, 2015 Acura notified NHTSA of a Stop Sale order and Safety Recall for 19,502 model year 2014-15, MDX,
RLX, and 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid vehicles. Any new or used vehicles in dealer stock must be repaired per the relevant
service bulletin prior to sale. Refer to the eResponsibility report or VIN Inquiry status to determine which vehicles
in your inventory are affected.
Problem
Under certain driving conditions, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) may unexpectedly activate while
operating the vehicle. The system may lock onto an incorrect target and apply emergency braking through the CMBS. If
the CMBS applies unexpected emergency braking force during normal operation, it could increase the risk of a crash.
Repair
Affected vehicles require a software update via the HOS to correct the CMBS system.
Software
Software to complete this safety recall is currently available via HOS software version 3.01 .40 or later.
Warranty
Warranty information is detailed in service bulletin 15-030, Safety Recall: RLX & RLX Sport Hybrid CMBS Error.
Originally two bulletins were released for the RLX and RLX Sport Hybrid, but because software is being released at the
same time for both vehicles, service bulletin 15-031 is obsolete.
Service Bulletin
In support of this recall, service bulletin 15-030 has been revised and is available on Service Information as of today,
June 5, 2015. It includes software, update, and warranty information related to this campaign.
Customer Notification
Acura expects to complete initial customer notification by late June 2015.
As always, make sure to check the iN VIN status inquiry to determine if a vehicle is eligible for this (or any) open recall.
