The original intent of service bulletin 10-026 safety recall was to identify a specific lot of suspect airbag inflators, and replace them with an improved part. The new direction for this recall population is to replace the airbag inflator in all affected units with a part that has been further improved and available since September 12, 2014. Because the inspection is no longer a valid procedure for this campaign, vehicles that have previously been inspected as OK or have been repaired with a new inflator prior to September 12, 2014 will require further action. These VINs have already been added to service bulletin 14-029, Recall: Driver’s Airbag Inflator May Produce Excessive Pressure After Long-Term Exposure to High Absolute Humidity and will require new inflator to be installed. Vehicles repaired with a new inflator between September 12, 2014, and February 4, 2015, do not require further action at this time for driver’s airbag inflator concerns. Please refer to the following diagram: Acura urges all dealers to submit pending claims for service bulletin 10-026 within the next week. Doing so will facilitate proper handling of VINs that require further action. Click here for diagram image BACK TO TOP © 2000–2015, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. All Rights Reserved.
