INTRODUCTION Nissan is conducting a voluntary service campaign on certain specific 2014-2017 Taxi and 2013-2017 NV200 vehicles to install a center console insulator. This service will be performed at no charge to owners for parts or labor. IDENTIFICATION NUMBER Nissan has assigned identification number PM674 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign. DEALER RESPONSIBILITY Dealers are to repair vehicles falling within range of this campaign that enter the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties, vehicles presented by transient (tourists) owners, and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory. Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/24 Repair Overview Check Service COMM campaign ID # PM674 to confirm the vehicle you are working on requires this campaign. Does the air bag warning light: Remain on after approximately 7 seconds. Flash intermittently. Not come on at all. NOTE: When the air bag light operates correctly, it will light for approximately 7 seconds and then turn OFF. YES NO Install Insulator-Console Service Kit Install Insulator-Console Service Kit Replace the Diagnostic Sensor Unit Check for stored DTCs with CONSULT III plus Are any DTCs stored? YES NO Go back to ASIST for further diagnostic information. Procedure complete Diagnosis and repairs beyond replacement of the Diagnostic Sensor Unit are not covered by this campaign. 2/24 NTB17-029 SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Confirm that the air bag warning light indicates that the system is operating correctly as follows: a. Turn the ignition ON, engine OFF. b. Are any of the following conditions present? The air bag warning light remains on after approximately 7 seconds. The air bag warning light flashes intermittently. The air bag warning light does not come on at all. NOTE: When the air bag light operates correctly, it will light for approximately 7 seconds and then turn OFF. c. Note the condition of the air bag warning light on the repair order (this will be used later in this procedure) and then proceed to step 2. d. Turn Ignition OFF. For steps 2-5 refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section INT – Interior for removal information, and Figure 1 for component locations. WARNING: The metal brackets that support the following components are very sharp. Take care when working around them. 2. Remove the parking brake finisher. 3. Remove the six (6) screws that attach the center console tray to the center console assembly and then remove center console tray. Two (2) screws from each side and two screws (2) from underneath. View from bottom of center console assembly. 5/24 NTB17-029 Parking Brake Finisher Attach nine (9) foam pieces to the parking brake finisher as follows: 1. Attach two (2) foam pieces (one on each side) into the flat recesses above the clips of the parking brake finisher, as shown in Figure 2A. See Table A in the Parts Information and use foam piece #1. Remove adhesive backing strip and attach the foam with adhesive facing up. 2. Attach the next two (2) foam pieces (one on each side) to the curved recesses above the clips of the parking brake finisher, as shown in Figure 3A. See Table A in the Parts Information and use foam piece #2. Remove adhesive backing strip and attach the foam with adhesive facing up. NOTE: In Figures 1A, 2A and 3A the left side is show. Attach two (2) foam pieces (one on each side) to the parking brake finisher one at a time as follows (Figure 4A). See Table A in the Parts Information and use foam piece #3. a. Remove the adhesive backing strip. b. Center the foam piece on the parking brake finisher so that it is: Overlapping the two pieces of foam just attached (foam piece #1 and #2), And is just below the lip of the parking brake finisher. c. Attach foam piece #3. NOTE: In Figure 4A the left side is shown. Right side is similar. Press the adhesive of foam piece #3 into foam pieces installed in steps 1 and 2 firmly. Attach one (1) foam piece (foam piece #4) to the front of the parking brake finisher as follows: See Table A in the Parts Information and use foam piece #4. Install below this point NOTE: Foam piece #4 should overlap both left and right side foam pieces attached in step 2 when done. Figure 8A a. Remove the adhesive backing strip. Overlap Lip b. Center the foam piece on the parking brake finisher so that it is: Overlapping the two pieces of foam attached in step 2 (foam piece #2), And is just below the lip of the parking brake finisher. c. Remove the adhesive backing strip. b. Attach the foam piece onto the parking brake finisher so that it: Overlaps the piece of foam attached in step 1 (foam piece #1), Foam Piece #5 Figure 12A And is just below the lip of the parking brake finisher. Attach one (1) foam piece (foam piece #7) to the center console tray where shown in Figure 2C as follows: Foam piece #7 See Table A in the Parts Information and use foam piece #7. a. Remove the adhesive backing strip. Start foam so that it is flush with this edge Adhesive facing side b. Align foam piece #7 on either the left or right side of the center console tray so that it is flush with the bottom edge (Figure 1C). c. With the adhesive facing the side of the center console tray, Figure 1C d. Attach foam piece #7 and continue attaching over the top of the center console tray. e. Finish with the opposite end of foam piece #7 flush with the opposite edge of the center console tray as shown in Figure 2C. Center console tray Foam piece #7 Figure 2C 13/24 NTB17-029 2. Remove the adhesive backing strip. b. Attach the foam piece onto the front edge of the center console tray so that it: Fold extended foam under Is over the groove, Figure 3C And extends slightly below the bottom edge. c. Press foam piece #8 into the groove firmly. d. Fold the extended bottom of foam under as shown in Figure 3C. Attach two (2) foam pieces (foam piece #9) one at a time to the center console assembly where shown in Figure 2D as follows: See Table A in the Parts Information and use foam piece #9. a. Turn the center console assembly upside down. b. Remove the adhesive backing strip. c. Turn center console assembly right side up. 3. Attach two (2) foam pieces (foam piece #10) one at a time to the center console assembly where shown in Figures 5D as follows: See Table A in the Parts Information and use foam piece #10. a. Remove the adhesive backing strip. b. Attach the foam pieces onto the center console assembly so that each: Starts at plastic rib (Figure 3D) and curves upward. Adhesive faces the side of center console (Figure 4D). NOTE: In Figures 3D and 4D the right side is shown. Left side is similar. Attach two (2) foam pieces (foam piece #11) one at a time to the center console assembly where shown in Figures 8D as follows: See Table A in the Parts Information and use foam piece #11. a. Remove the adhesive backing strip. b. Attach the foam piece onto the center console assembly so that it: Overlaps the plastic rib slightly (Figure 7D). Adhesive faces plastic rib (Figure 7D). c. After attaching foam piece to the plastic rib rotate it 90 degrees so that the adhesive faces down. d. Continue attaching foam piece #11. NOTE: In Figures 6D and 7D the right side is shown. Left side is similar. Remove the adhesive backing strip shown in Figure 9D. Foam piece #12 b. Extends below the bottom edge (Figure 10D and 11D). NOTE: Foam piece #12 should extend below the center console assembly by the width of the adhesive strip shown in Figure 9D. c. Continue attaching foam piece #12. Were any of the following conditions noted in step 1 on page 3? The air bag warning light remains on after approximately 7 seconds. The air bag warning light flashes intermittently. The air bag warning light does not come on at all. NO: Proceed to step 9 on Page 21. YES: Proceed to step 2. 2. Write down the radio settings. Presets AM FM 1 FM 2 SAT 1 SAT 2 SAT 3 Bass 1 2 Treble 3 Balance 4 Fade 5 6 Spd Sen. Vol. 3. Record (write down) any other customer settings that will be lost when the battery is disconnected. Refer to the ESM, section PG-Power Supply, Ground, & Circuit Elements, for a listing of systems that may lose settings or memory when disconnecting the 12V battery. Look in the PG section index for ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REMOVING BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL. This list often includes items such as audio, power windows, clock, etc. 19/24 NTB17-029 4. Replace the Diagnostic Sensor Unit shown in Figure 1E. Refer to the ESM, section SR – SRS Airbag, for removal and installation information. Diagnostic Sensor Unit Front of vehicle Figure 1E 5. Reconnect the battery cables, positive cable first. 20/24 NTB17-029 6. Check for any stored DTCs. 7. Are any DTCs stored? NO: Proceed to step 8. YES: If DTCs are stored: Go back to ASIST for further diagnostic information. Diagnosis and repairs beyond replacement of the Diagnostic Sensor Unit are not covered by this campaign. 8. Reset/reinitialize systems as needed. Refer to the ESM, section PG – Power, Supply & Ground Elements, for a listing of systems that require reset/initialization after reconnecting the 12V battery. Look in the PG section index for ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REMOVING BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL. This list often includes items such as audio, power windows, clock, etc. 9. Reassembly the center console assembly and all related components in the reverse order.
