APPLIED VEHICLES: 2017 Q60 (V37) 2016-2017 Q50 (V37) 2013 JX35 (L50) 2014-2017 QX60 (L50) 2017 QX80 (Z62) With V6 only. Hybrid not included. IF YOU CONFIRM Engine oil is leaking from a valve timing control solenoid valve, And The valve timing control solenoid valve operates correctly and is not externally damaged. ACTION Replace the valve timing control solenoid valve O-ring with a new one using the Service Procedure starting on page 2. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Infiniti retailer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/4 SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Remove the leaking valve timing control solenoid valve (VTC solenoid) from the valve timing control cover (VTC cover). 2. Inspect for debris and visual damage to the body of the VTC solenoid that could cause the leak. Clean any debris that is present from the VTC solenoid and the VTC cover surfaces. 3. Is any visual damage present to the body of the VTC solenoid that could cause the leak? NO: Proceed to step 4. YES: This bulletin does not apply. Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) section EM – Engine Mechanical for further information. VTC solenoid 4. Remove the O-ring from the base of the VTC solenoid. IMPORTANT: Be careful not to damage the Oring’s sealing surface. O-ring Figure 1 5. Install a new O-ring as follows: a. Verify the machined O-ring groove is free from debris or contamination. Machined O-ring groove Figure 2 2/4 ITB17-002a b. Cut a 2 inch by 8.5 inch strip of plain printer paper. Plain printer paper Figure 3 c. Roll the VTC solenoid valve with the sheet of paper cut in step 5b (Figure 4). Figure 4 Machined O-ring groove d. Roll the new O-ring over the paper and into the machined O-ring groove. New O-ring e. Remove the paper that was rolled onto the VTC solenoid. Figure 5 6. Apply engine oil to the O-ring and then install the VTC solenoid into the VTC cover. Ensure the VTC cover orifice is free from debris or contamination before reinstallation. 3/4 ITB17-002a PARTS INFORMATION DESCRIPTION O-Ring PART NUMBER 15066-3RC6B QUANTITY 1 CLAIMS INFORMATION Submit a Primary Part (PP) type claim using the following claims coding: DESCRIPTION PFP OP CODE Install O-Ring (1) AP64AA SYM DIA FRT ZE 32 (2) (1) Refer to the electronic parts catalog (FAST) and use the VTC Oil Control Assembly part number as the Primary Failed Part (PFP). (2) Reference the current Infiniti Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the indicated flat rate time. 4/4 ITB17-002a
