Service Technical Information 38/12 ENU WC30 5 WC30 - Reworking Seam Seal on Luggage Compartment Floor (Workshop Campaign) Vehicle Type: 911 Carrera (991)/911 Carrera S (991) Model Year: 2012 Concerns: Seam seal on luggage compartment floor Revision 1: June 20, 2012, this revision incorporates a second scope for reworking the seam seal on luggage compartment floor. Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There is the possibility that the joint between the luggage compartment floor and bulkhead was not sealed correctly on the affected vehicles. As a result, water can leak into the luggage compartment. Action Required: Rework seam seal on luggage compartment floor. Affected Vehicles: The VIN(s) can be checked by using PIWIS Vehicle Information link to verify if the campaign affects the vehicle. This Campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper repair. Parts Info: ... Body sealant (Commercially available, e.g. LORD Fusor® 804 Sprayable Seam Sealer, WURTH USA Spray Seam Sealer, 3M™ MSP Sprayable Seam Sealer 8374) 1 ea.* The body sealant to be used must match the color of the existing body sealant (PVC). To do this, apply body sealant in dots along the seams ⇒ Figure 2 -A- until they are filled uniformly. Then spread the body sealant out evenly with a brush. There may be up to 8 seams. AfterSales Jun 15, 2012 Page 3 of 6 5 Service WC30 ENU Technical Information 38/12 Information To ensure an even application (spray pattern) of the sealing compound, apply the sealant on a piece of cardboard as a test before using it on the vehicle. 5 Using the Multi-press telescopic spray gun, apply body sealant as a sprayable seam sealant (the same sealant as used in #3, above) with a layer thickness of 1 mm to 1.3 mm to the complete luggage compartment floor ⇒ Figure 4 and leave it to dry. Apply the sprayable seam sealant up to the front apron. 6 Remove protective film and remove the vehicle from the lifting platform. 7 Enter the campaign in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet.
