ACTIVATION (CUSTOMER RETAIL)
This bulletin provides the procedure for updating the map software on all 2014MY Soul (PS)
vehicles. In addition to the map update, a software update is included to upgrade UVO
eServices functionality, as well as improved navigation features and Siri® Eyes Free with
iPhone®. Kia owners have the option to purchase a map upgrade directly from MnSoft
(www.mapnsoft.com) at a special introductory price and can perform the upgrade themselves
or have the dealer perform the upgrade, in which case, additional labor charges will apply
(suggested labor time is 0.3 M/H). Notice: Other services can be performed on the vehicle
while the map system update is in progress. Kia dealers may purchase the map upgrade
through www.kdealer.com.

This map upgrade is contained in an SD card (P/N 8S61) and
customers may order the upgrade through www.mapnsoft.com or by
calling (888)757-0010. Kia dealers may purchase the map upgrade
through www.kdealer.com.

Ordering SD Cards through www.kdealer.com:
1.
Log onto www.kdealer.com
2.
Click on View All.
3.
Select Map Update and then click on
‘Proceed’ in the pop-up screen. The
system will open the Kia Map Update
website.
4.
Once on the Kia Map Update Home
Page, select the map to update from
the menu and follow the on-screen
instructions to complete the purchase.

Service Procedure:
 NOTICE

A fully charged battery is necessary before Navigation System upgrade can
take place. It is recommended that the Midtronics GR8-1299 system be used,
in ECM mode, during charging. DO NOT connect any other battery charger to
the vehicle during audio head unit upgrade.

This update is not compatible with the GDS Audio Update Module (AUM) and
will require the use of an SD Card.

This navigation update will take approximately 15~20 minutes to complete.
1.
Start the vehicle or connect the Midtronics GR8-1299 charger.
2.
Record the customer’s radio presets.
3.
Remove the original SD Card from the
slot and insert the new SD Card. When
the procedure is complete, return the
original SD Card to the customer, as it
will not be reused.
NOTE: The update may start
automatically. If update does not
start, follow the steps below to
perform the update manually.
 NOTICE
Do NOT turn the vehicle OFF or
remove the SD Card while the
update is in progress.

Press the SETUP button.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and
touch System Info on the screen.
6.
Touch Update on the screen.
7.
Touch OK to start the upgrade.
 NOTICE
Do NOT turn the vehicle OFF or
remove the SD Card while the
update is in progress.

The system will check the integrity of
update in the SD Card.
 NOTICE
Do NOT turn the vehicle OFF or
remove the SD Card while the
update is in progress.
9.
After the system checks the update,
the 1st stage of the update will begin.
10.
After the system finishes installing the
1st stage of the update, turn the head
unit OFF > ON.
 NOTICE
The system will restart multiple
times during this update.

11.
After turning the head unit ON, the
“Update is complete” screen will
appear on the display and the system
will restart.
12.
Once the system has restarted, the 2nd
stage of the update will begin.
 NOTICE
Do NOT turn the vehicle OFF or
remove the SD Card while the
update is in progress.
13.
When the update is complete, the
system will restart. Touch Agree on
the screen.

verify the upgrade software version
number matches the information in the
table below:

Restore the customer’s radio presets
as recorded on step 2.
