SUBJECT:
OUTSIDE REAR COMBINATION LED LAMP
ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
This bulletin provides the procedure to replace the outside rear combination lamp(s) (LED type)
on some 2014-2015MY Forte Koup (YD) vehicles, produced from October 14, 2013 to July 1,
2014, which may experience an intermittently inoperative LED portion of the outside rear
combination lamp due to a poor solder joint on the printed circuit board. Follow the procedure
outlined in this bulletin to replace the outside rear combination lamp(s) with the inoperative LED
portion(s), then inspect the LOT No. of the other outside rear combination lamp by following the
inspection procedure on page 3 of this bulletin and replace the lamp if necessary.

This bulletin only applies to 2014-2015MY Forte Koup (YD) vehicles equipped with
LED type rear combination lamps.

ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
Service Procedure for Lamp with Inoperative LED:
1. Open the trunk.
2. Remove the outside rear combination
Outside left rear lamp shown in images below
lamp cover (A).

Disconnect the lamp harness connector
(B).

4.
Remove the four (4) lamp retaining nuts.
5.
Dislodge the harness rubber grommet
(C) by pushing it towards the outside of
the vehicle and then remove the lamp.

CAUTION
Use caution not to damage the
bumper cover and vehicle when
removing the lamp.

ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
Replace the lamp with the improved part
and reinstall all removed components in
the reverse order of removal.
Inspection Procedure for Lamp with Operative LED:
1. Repeat steps 1 to 5 of the service
procedure on page 2 to remove the
outside rear combination lamp.
2.
Locate the LOT number on the bottom of
lamp and verify the production date of
the lamp by referring to the LOT number
identification table on page 4.
3.
If the LOT number of the lamp is on or
before JGA (July 1, 2014), replace the
lamp with the improved part. Reinstall all
removed components in the reverse
order of removal.
If the LOT number of the lamp is on or
after JGB (July 2, 2014), no further
action is required. Reinstall all removed
components in the reverse order of
removal.
4.
With an assistant, confirm proper
operation of all rear combination lamp
functions.
