Bulletin No.: PIP4908A Date: Jan-2013 Subject: (EREV) Intermittent MIL With DTC P0AB9 And Or P16E0 Stored Current Or History After A Low Fuel Event Models: 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt This PI was superseded to update model years. Please discard PIP4908. The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern Customers may comment on a MIL after the vehicle has been run out of fuel. Dealer technicians may find DTC P0AB9 and or P16E0 stored current or as history. If the vehicle has been run out of fuel and the fuel cap was removed then reinstalled without adding fuel one or both of the listed DTCs may set. Recommendation/Instructions Confirm low fuel condition occurred and then refuel vehicle and clear DTCs. If DTCs do not return, do not perform any repairs. If DTC resets after clearing, follow published S.I. diagnostics. Warranty Information For vehicles repaired under warranty use: Labor Operation Description Labor Time J9999 Powertrain Controls — Labor Only Verify low fuel event and clear the DTC. Use published labor time Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
