Date: 5/19/2015 To: All Mitsubishi Dealers All Mitsubishi Dealership Service & Parts Managers Subject: Takata Air Bag Inflators U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced today that Takata has acknowledged that a defect exists in its air bag inflators. Takata has agreed to a national recall of certain types of driver and passenger side air bag inflators. These inflators were made with a propellant that can degrade over time. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has two existing campaigns involving Takata air bag inflators: Safety Recall SR‐14‐012 – Lancer Front Passenger Air Bag Inflator ‐ This Regional Safety Recall involves certain 2004 – 2005 Lancer/Lancer Sportback/Lancer Evolution vehicles originally sold in, or ever registered in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Saipan, and America Samoa Service Campaign SC‐14‐005 – Raider Driver Air Bag Inflator ‐ The Service Campaign covers certain 2006 – 2007 Raider vehicles nationwide MMNA is currently evaluating how the recent Takata announcement will impact our dealers and customers. We are also scheduled to discuss this situation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). As quickly as possible, we will communicate the actions MMNA will be taking as a result of the recent announcements – as always, they will align with our “customer first” philosophy.
