 Other DTC’s can also be stored at the same time.
Technical Background
On some MY 2016 and 2017 vehicles equipped with
2.0TFSI engines, engine codes (CPMB, CAED or
CCTA), DTC P001600 can be set due to a worn
intake side - camshaft bearing bridge thrust surface
(Figure 1).

Production Solution
Improved camshaft bearing bridge with 50% larger thrust surface in production starting 02/10/2017.
Service
If DTC P001600 (crankshaft camshaft correlation) is stored in the engine control module memory, proceed as
follows:
1. Measure the intake camshaft end play.
2. If intake camshaft endplay is less than 0.2mm this TSB does not apply, proceed with GFF to diagnose root
cause.
3. If intake camshaft end play is greater than 0.2mm, proceed to step 4.
4. Replace the camshaft bearing bridge (Figure 2) with part number 06H 103 144 K (Figure 3, improved part).
Note:
Do not use Part number 06H 103 144 J.

5. Drain engine oil, change the engine oil, and engine oil filter.

Note:
To prevent oil pan thread damage, only use torque wrench to tighten oil drain plug to 30Nm.
6. Check engine oil level and top up as needed.
7. Perform test drive to verify repair.
