Transmission-Knocking Noise from the Rear of the Engine or Bell
Housing Area
Knocking noises at the rear of the engine or bell housing area may be a result of loose torque converter
bolts. If a noise is identified in this area, inspect all torque converter bolts for being loose (or missing).
Inspect for flex plate and or torque converter damage. If there is no damage noted replace the bolts, torque
to specification and recheck for noise concerns. If there is damage noted, please open a VTA ticket and
contact the Technicians Helpline.
