To prevent cracking, a new bracket has been developed. To install the new bracket, follow the procedure outlined in this document. If you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before you perform it. DANGER Before working on a vehicle, set the parking brakes, place the transmission in neutral, and block the wheels. Failure to do so can result in unexpected vehicle movement and can cause serious personal injury or death. DANGER Do not attempt to repair or service a vehicle without the proper training, tools and service information. Failure to do so may result in component damage, serious injury or death. DANGER Scaffolding or other suitable work platform must be used when performing this procedure. Failure to do so may result in a fall causing serious injury or death N o t e : Assistance is required to complete this procedure properly. 1 Secure the vehicle for service by parking it on a flat level surface, applying the parking brake, chocking the rear wheel, and placing the transmission in neutral. 2 Disconnect all cables from the negative (ground) battery terminals to prevent personal injury from electrical shock and prevent damage to electrical components. 3 Open the hood. Using assistance move the sun visor to a suitable location. 6 Inspect the sun visor for any cracking at the two center mounting locations. If cracks are found replace the sun visor. 7 From each center sun visor bracket remove the lower bracket fasteners. Torque fasteners to 20 ± 4 Nm (15 ± 3 ft-lb). Secure the bracket with a retainer. Molded into the sun visor support is a small triangle. Use this triangle as a locating feature for drilling the hole. W8077071 11 Position the sun visor into position. Connect the sun visor marker light harness. N o t e : If equipped, push excess wiring into the visor using care to ensure wiring is not damaged during installation. Torque the visor mounting fasteners to 14 ± 2 Nm (10 ± 1.50 ft-lb).
