CONDITION SUMMARY:
SITUATION:
The Terrain Response® system may not operate as expected when in 'Auto' mode by not
automatically selecting the correct driving mode. As the driving mode changes, the
transmission may downshift, the engine Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) may also increase,
and/or the 'Auto Stop/Start OFF' warning indicator may illuminate on the Instrument Cluster
(IC).
CAUSE:
This may be caused by a Chassis Control Module (CHCM) software error.
ACTION:
Should a customer express this concern, follow the appropriate Diagnostic Procedure below.

◾ The JLR Claims Submission System requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor
only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 'A': SDD
This Diagnostic Procedure is only for vehicles requiring the Jaguar Land Rover-approved
diagnostic tool with Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD).
CAUTIONS:
◾ A Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply must be connected
to the vehicle battery during diagnosis / module programming.
◾ All ignition ON/OFF requests must be carried out. Failure to perform these steps may
cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.

Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the
vehicle battery.

The Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic tool must be loaded with
SDD151.05 Software Management Pack v283 (or later).
Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic tool to the vehicle and begin a
new session.

Follow all on-screen instructions, allowing the diagnostic tool to read the VIN, identify
the vehicle, and initiating the data collect sequence.

Select Diagnosis from the Session Type screen.

Select the Selected Symptoms tab.

Select one of the following symptoms:
Chassis - Ride and handling optimization - Terrain response

Select continue.

Select the Recommendations tab.

Select Run to perform the 'Configure existing module - Chassis control
module' option.

Follow all on-screen instructions until the application completes successfully.

When prompted, select the Clear DTCs option following completion of the
software download.

When all tasks are complete, go to the next Step.
Exit the current session.

Select the Session tab.

Select the Close Session option.
Disconnect the diagnostic tool and battery power supply from the vehicle.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 'B': PATHFINDER
This Diagnostic Procedure is only for vehicles requiring the Jaguar Land Rover-approved
diagnostic tool with PATHFINDER.
CAUTIONS:
◾ A Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply must be connected
to the vehicle battery during diagnosis / module programming.
◾ All ignition ON/OFF requests must be carried out. Failure to perform these steps may
cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.

Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the
vehicle battery.

NOTE:
The Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic tool must be loaded with
PATHFINDER version 121 (or later).
Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic tool to the vehicle and begin a
new session.

NOTE:
The Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic tool will read the correct Vehicle
Identification Number (VIN) for the current vehicle and automatically take the
vehicle out of Transit mode if required.
Follow all on-screen instructions.

Select Chassis Control Module 'B' [CHCMB].
Select 'Update ECU'.
Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.

Exit the current session.

If required, reset the vehicle to Transit mode.

Select the Exit icon.
Disconnect the diagnostic tool and battery power supply from the vehicle.
