Condition
As part of a service, repair, or workshop visit it has been established that the rear mounting bracket of the front
transverse link is cracked.
Technical Background
Cracks which are not significant parts
of the bearing elastomer or rubber
structure (for example: bars), do not
affect the mounting properties. This
applies in particular to open "corner of
the mouth cracks" up to about 10 mm
(3/8-inch) long in the corners of bars.
Cracked rubber skins on the edges of
bars are production residues - rubber
skins do not have any function.
Figure 1. Harmless shallow hairline cracks, long
corner of the mouth cracks, and permissible free
play.

The following points do not affect
the mounting properties:
1. Harmless shallow hairline cracks
(Figure 1).
2. Up to about 10 mm (3/8-inch) long
corner of the mouth cracks (Figure 1).
3. Permissible free play between
transverse link hexagonal bolt and
bonded rubber bush (Figure 1).
4. Harmless cracked rubber skins
(Figure 2).
Figure 2. Harmless cracked rubber skins.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
If the cracks on the rear mounting bracket match the above criteria, a parts replacement is not necessary.
Warranty
This TSB is informational only and not applicable to any Audi Warranty.
However, in case of warranty replacement of a part a photo of the mounting bracket (while fitted) must be taken.
This photo must be attached to the warranty claim. Failure to do so will result in non-payment of the claim.
Additional Information
All parts and service references provided in this TSB (2047207) are subject to change and/or removal. Always
check with your Parts Department and service manuals for the latest information.
