Technical Background
The coolant pump is sealed off with a slip ring seal to the input shaft. To prevent the seal from drying up a minor
coolant leak is necessary to lubricate the seal. In some cases, the excess coolant can be discharged to the
outside via the vent hole.
With time, the discharged coolant dries up and leads to coolant deposits. This coolant pump does not have to be
replaced and was not responsible for the coolant loss.
The coolant loss can be from other leaking components. In those cases, the coolant runs to the lowest point and
is first visible on the coolant pump.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
1. Fill out attached check sheet with information requested and attach to the Repair Order.
2. Remove the coolant marks from the coolant pump and the surrounding components and bleed the cooling
system according to ElsaPro. Check the cooling system for leaks according to the repair manual.
