POSSIBLE CAUSES The B+ sensing screw on the alternator is not torqued properly. CORRECTIVE ACTION Remove the rear alternator cover, and torque the B+ sensing screw to the specified value. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable with the battery sensor from the battery. Refer to the service information. 2. Remove the front bulkhead cover if applicable. Refer to the service information. 3. Remove the #4 spark plug ignition coil to give you better access. Refer to the service information. 4. Disconnect the alternator connector. 5. Remove the three 8 mm nuts holding on the rear alternator cover, then remove the cover. Page 2 of 3 6. Torque the B+ sensing screw with a stubby Phillips #2 screwdriver to 2 N•m (1.5 lb-ft). NOTE Due to space limitations, technicians may need to torque with an extension and a 1/4 swivel with a #2 Philips head bit. Do not overtorque this screw. You are only trying to achieve 2 N•m (1.5 lb-ft) of torque. 7. Install the rear alternator cover to 4 N•m (3.3lb-ft). 8. Connect the negative cable and the battery sensor to the negative battery post. Refer to the service information. 9. Before returning the vehicle to the customer, do an all DTC check and clear DTCs for all the systems. Refer to the service information. END Page 3 of 3
