RE: Stop Sale/Safety Recall: 2005-10 Odyssey Fuel Pump Module Leak
On March 13, 2014 American Honda will notify NHTSA of a Stop Sale order and Safety Recall for all 2005-10 Odyssey
vehicles. Any used vehicles in dealer stock must be inspected, and if necessary, repaired per S/B 14-015, Safety Recall:
Odyssey Fuel Leak or Smell prior to sale. Refer to the eResponsibility report or VIN Inquiry status to determine
which vehicles in your inventory are affected.
Affected vehicles should not be sold until the inspection, and if necessary, repair has been completed. Should an
unrepaired vehicle cause any injury or damage because of the required recall repair, the dealership will be solely
responsible to the damaged party, and will be required to defend and indemnify Honda for any resulting claims.
This campaign will have two phases. During the first phase, customers will be notified of the recall. If a customer comes
in and either complains of a fuel smell, fuel leak or requests an inspection, refer to the inspection and repair procedure in
this bulletin. Otherwise, customers should wait until the second phase of the recall. For the second phase, all vehicles
identified in the VIN status inquiry will receive improved parts, including those that previously had the fuel filter set
replaced with original parts.
Basic Problem
Over time, the fuel filter assembly may be exposed to certain conditions, which may cause the filter set cover to crack and
allow customers to notice a fuel smell.
The Repair
Affected vehicles require inspection of the fuel filter set. Any vehicles exhibiting leaks as outlined in service bulletin 14015 will require application of a pre-countermeasure fuel filter set. In Summer 2014, countermeasure parts will become
available; at that time, the inspection procedure will be removed and countermeasure parts application will begin for all
affected vehicles.
Parts Information
Parts to permanently repair affected vehicles will be available in Summer 2014. Until that time, pre-countermeasure fuel
filter sets will be used to temporarily repair vehicles. Pre-countermeasure fuel filter sets will not be available for open
order; instead, please advise your DPSM of all pre-countermeasure parts needs. Your DPSM will facilitate getting an
order in the system (note: this is the same process employed for the Odyssey VSA software error safety recall), and a
part allocation will be made.
Special Tools Information
Service Bulletin 14-015 includes a reference to commercially available Developer. The correct material to use in this case
is D70 Developer, P/N MCED70, which is available through the Tool and Equipment Program by calling 888-424-6857.
The material is not available for order through the iN.
Service Bulletin
In support of this recall, S/B 14-015 will be posted on ISIS on March 13, 2014. It will include inspection, temporary repair,
parts, and warranty information related to this campaign.
Warranty and Repair Information
Warranty, inspection and temporary repair information will be detailed in S/B 14-015, Safety Recall: Odyssey Fuel Leak

or Smell.
Customer Notification
Honda expects to complete initial customer notification by the middle of May 2014. Secondary notifications announcing
availability of the countermeasure parts will begin to be issued some time in Summer 2014.
As always, make sure to check in VIN Inquiry status to determine if a vehicle is eligible for this recall.
