Summary:
BRP has noticed an increase in claims for the RT hood actuator switch.
Type:
General
TST Detail:
Switch inspection reveals the contact points inside the switch are exposed to high amperage. This causes an
intermittent or permanently bad contact.
Inspect the hood actuator itself to see if the lever it pushes against is in-line and not obstructed. This could also
happen if the front cargo is over packed and the pressure pressing up against the mechanism is beyond what the
actuator can push and the switch gets too much amperage.
Here are 2 quick way to diagnose the hood actuator switch (notice 2010 is different from 2011/12/13):
In both tests the hood actuator switch should be pressed to close the circuit, insert a screw driver as shown here.

1. Using a multimeter set to Ohms take readings in the front bin area.
a. Disconnect the hood actuator and remove the green terminal lock using a small screw driver.
b. Remove fuse box cover and remove load shedding relay.
c. Expected resistance is less than 2 Ohms

a.
b.
c.
d.
Remove the LH lateral panel and the acoustic panel.
Disconnect the console harness from the main harness.
Set the multimeter to Ohms and measure the resistance between the illustrated terminals
Expected resistance is less than 2 Ohms
