Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty
Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
Description:
This bulletin provides information to replace the A/C Evaporator Temperature Sensor and to update
the HVAC ECU on certain 2016-2017 model year Tucson (TL) vehicles.
In WEBDCS, each VIN has been assigned to a specific Op Code to perform one of the appropriate
service procedures:
 Evaporator Temperature Sensor Replacement only
 Evaporator Temperature Sensor Replacement and ECU update
Follow the Service Procedure outlined in this bulletin to perform the campaign operation as noted in
the WEBDCS Vehicle Information Screen.

NOTE: Submit claim on Campaign Claim Entry Screen.
Service Procedure:
1. Access the Evaporator Temperature Sensor by removing the LH console side cover (A).
 Pull the ends of the cover towards the left side of the vehicle to release the mounting clips (B).

Then slide the LH console side cover (A) towards the rear of the vehicle to remove the cover.

2. Remove and replace the Evaporator Temperature Sensor with a new campaign part.
 Release the connector lock (C) to disconnect the temperature sensor harness.
 Rotate the temperature sensor (D) counter-clockwise 90 degrees to remove the sensor.

Install the new Evaporator Temperature Sensor.
Then reinstall all removed parts in reverse order of removal. Be sure to reconnect the
sensor connector.
NOTICE
 If campaign requires Op Code 70C061R0, then skip to Step 6 to complete the campaign.
 If campaign requires Op Code 70C061R1, then proceed to Step 3 for ECU update.
3. (Perform only for Op Code 70C061R1) Connect the GDS to the vehicle and access the HVAC
control unit using the “AIRCON” system menu. Follow the next steps to perform the ECU update.
 Refer to TSB 15-GI-001 for additional tablet-based Mobile GDS ECU update information.
 Clear any DTC(s) present after the ECU update.

4. Initially perform the GDS using the Automatic ECU Upgrade procedure.
 Event “454 TL A/C PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT (DATC)”
 Event “455 TL A/C PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT (MTC)”
NOTE: Confirm the correct event number according to the equipped HVAC control system type.
 DATC = Dual Automatic Temperature Control
 MTC = Manual Temperature Control
5. If the Automatic ECU Upgrade process fails, then cycle the ignition key to OFF for at least 10
seconds to reset the control unit, then resume programming using the Manual ECU Upgrade process.

6. After all campaign work is complete, start the engine to confirm proper operation of the vehicle and
HVAC control system.
 Cycle through the various air intake modes, flow direction modes, set temperatures, and blower
motor speeds to verify that the HVAC system is operating correctly.
 Clear any DTC(s) present if ECU update was performed.
