Diagnostic Trouble Code ( DTC ) P208A Logging Intermittently - OBD15, OBD16
Title (customer effect)
Emissions; Commonly Model Year ( MY ) 2016, 2017 Chassis
Diagnostic Trouble Code ( DTC ) P208A Reductant Pump "A" Control may log
Cause
intermittently on OBD15 and OBD16 Emissions (Model Year 2016, 2017) chassis,
commonly during an engine cold start.
Solution
DTC P208A-00 may be setting due to a software issue.
If there are no other faults or symptoms present do not proceed with GD or change any
parts.
Verify the chassis emissions level.
• Details can be found in the Product Details box on the Product tab in PTT as seen below:
For OBD16 Emissions Chassis ( Commonly Model Year 2017 ):
• Software has been released to correct an issue with voltage threshold
• Update the ACM software to the current version
• Refer to Tech Tip TT-001-2016 and check the other recommended items
• Perform a short test drive to ensure there are no further issues
For OBD15 Emissions Chassis ( Commonly Model Year 2016 ):
• Software improvements have been released to address this code. If P208A
is present, software should be checked and updated as necessary.
• Two modules are affected by this update and should be reprogrammed in the following
order:
1. Engine Control Module ( EMS )
2. Aftertreatment Control Module ( ACM )
• If there are other codes and symtoms present or the code returns following the software
update, normal diagnostic procedures should be followed to determine the issue.
