The vibrations are particularly noticeable on the seat and the center arm rest. Technical Background With time the decoupling element of the front muffler fails to dampen the vibrations of the front exhaust pipe. Service Before proceeding, attempt to verify the vibration concern by performing a test drive. During the test drive, observe the vehicle in the following conditions: In 3rd or 4th gear (tip mode) between 2500 to 3200 rpm. Approximately 50% throttle input. If the condition cannot be reproduced, this bulletin does not apply. If the condition can be reproduced, follow the instructions list below. Replace both exhaust pipes with front mufflers with the part numbers listed in ETKA with a VIN specific search of the catalog. The new pipes will come with a shipping sleeve around the decoupling element which needs to left on the element until the pipes are installed on the vehicle (Figure 1). Figure 1. Dampening weight and shipping sleeve on decoupling element. Note: Danger of damaging the decoupling element: Decoupling element must not be bent more than 10 degrees. Do not damage wire mesh at decoupling element. 1. Align the exhaust system free of tension. Refer to Elsa→ Chapter 26> Exhaust System, Emission Controls > Exhaust Pipes/Mufflers > Exhaust System, Installing without Tension. Remove the shipping sleeves from both pipes. 2. Confirm that TSB 2036392 - Software update J931 (address word BA) has been performed. 3. Test drive vehicle until engine is at operating temperature. 4.
