This bulletin is being revised to update Model Years. Please discard previous bulletin SB15-J-003. INFORMATION IMPORTANT: Be sure to confirm correct oil filter application prior to installation. For 2016MY N-Series vehicles, a secondary oil screen was added to the oil filter mounting adapter to keep larger debris from entering the oiling system when the oil filter bypass valve is activated. This new secondary screen will require cleaning each time the oil filter cartridge is replaced. Clean the screen using spray can parts cleaner. NOTE: Refer to bulletin IB15-J-002B for important information on the new oil filter for 2011 and newer model years. SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Clean the secondary oil screen using commercially-available parts cleaner (see Figures 1 and 2). Figure 1 – Secondary Screen Figure 2 – Clean the Secondary Screen 2. Allow the screen to completely dry before installing the new filter. NOTE: When removing and installing the oil filter, be sure the secondary screen does not become separated from the filter mount. If the screen is accidentally removed, simply press back onto the filter mount. 3. Install the new oil filter cartridge (see Figure 3). Figure 3 – Install New Oil Filter Cartridge
