Occasionally settings in the Data Communication Module (in-vehicle DCM), or on the network may prevent the “Shelled Mode” status. In these potential cases, the vehicle is likely to be in “Shipping Mode” and a red LED may be detected with or without a DTC. NOTE: “Shipping Mode” is quick to identify as both red and green LEDs blink together for 20 seconds. If “Shipping Mode” is identified, please continue with the following recommendations. RECOMMENDATIONS In the event that a green LED does not remain illuminated after the ignition is turned on and after the LED system check, first attempt a DCM Activation using the Techstream “Telematics” utility as outlined in the Repair Manual. NOTE: The Repair Manual indicates that a red LED remaining on without a DTC requires a DCM replacement repair. A repair might not be necessary if the system only needs to be activated. Please review the flow chart on page 2 of this Tech Tip and the Repair Manual procedures to identify modes and the activation process. If the DCM Activation utility does not result in successful activation, contact the TAS hotline prior to replacing the DCM.
