This PI is being revised to provide additional 2010 information, part information and warranty information. Please discard
PI0865.
The Ecotec 2.4L service engine will not have the intake manifold, high pressure fuel system or the ignition coils installed. These components must be
transferred from the original engine. A new high pressure fuel feed pipe from the pump to the fuel rail must also be used. Do not reuse the original pipe as a
fuel leak may develop.
For the 2010 model year engine, new part number 12657110, already has the correct intake camshaft and actuator in the engine. There is no need to transfer
these parts when using this part number.
Important: The new 2.4L Ecotec Service engines DO NOT come shipped with oil.
Important: For 2010-2011 models built before March 2011, check GWM to determine if the high pressure fuel pump was ever replaced. If it was not, replace
with a new high pressure fuel pump.
Parts that need to be transferred from original engine to the new service engine:
•

•
Fuel Injectors
•

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may
occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools,
safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that
your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
