Subject: IMPORTANT UPDATE ‐‐ 3.0L AEM Touareg TDI
Importance: High
VW Service Managers,
It has been brought to my attention that not all dealers received an initial shipment of the required campaign labels for
the 23V6 and 23V7 AEM for the 3.0L TDI. If you have checked with your parts department and did not receive the
required labels it would be best to hold off on making customer appointments until you have the labels on hand.
If you do not have labels at this time you can submit a request via email to [email protected] however it is possible
the request will not be filled as there are very limited quantities available. In that case you will need to await the arrival
of a normal shipment. I do not have an e.t.a. for shipment at this time.

Important Reminder #1:
Based on experience with the previously performed TDI AEMs everyone is aware that affixing the incorrect label to a
particular vehicle will result in that vehicle having to come back into your shop for a correction to be made and a
correction on IN‐FORM as well. Please remind your team to be very careful in applying the correct labels to each vehicle
– “check twice, apply once”.
There are 2 different Proof of Completion labels and 4 different VECI labels involved in the 23V6 and 23V7. A chart
containing this information can be found in both repair circulars. Here is a summary:
23V6
23V7
23V6 Proof of Completion (2013 ‐2014) ‐ 7P0 010 023B
23V7 Proof of Completion (2015 ‐2016) ‐ 7P0 010 023A
23V6 VECI 2013 – 059 010 533BD
23V7 VECI 2015 – 059 010 533BF
23V6 VECI 2014 – 059 010 533BE
23V7 VECI 2016 – 059 010 533BG
Important Reminder #2:
If you have reviewed the 3.0L repair instructions you know that special care must be taken if you have a broken stud at
the DPF or SCR Cat flange. DO NOT USE a hammer, punch, torch, air chisel, air hammer, or any tool other than the
recommended press tool in this area of the exhaust system. It is highly likely that the EGT sensor will be damaged by
heat, impact, and vibration. Also the DEF line can easily be damaged if using a torch in this situation.

Important Reminder #3
ALWAYS work from the on‐line instructions in ServiceNet to ensure you have the latest information. DO NOT make
printed copies of the AEM circulars.
ALWAYS follow the instructions one step at a time. Review the entire procedure before beginning work.
ALWAYS remember to follow directions for connecting the scan tool and scan tool power supply, battery charger, etc.
ALWAYS keep scan tools up‐to‐date.
