Introduction
Some 2015 – 2016 model year TRD Pro Edition 4Runners may exhibit an abnormal clunk type
noise when driving at low speeds over certain road surfaces. The condition may also be more
evident in colder climates. The TRD Pro Shock Absorber has been updated to prevent this noise
from occurring. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
 This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36
months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
 Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in
this bulletin.

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the condition.
2. Remove the front shock assembly from the vehicle, following the TRD Pro installation
instruction: T-AI-0956-D
3. Disassemble the front shock absorber assembly from the vehicle.
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year
Repair Manual:
 2015 4Runner:
Suspension – Alignment/Handling Diagnoses – “Front Suspension: Front Shock
Absorber: Disassembly”
4. Reassemble the front shock absorber assembly using the new TRD Pro shock absorber.
Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

2015 4Runner:
Suspension – Alignment/Handling Diagnoses – “Front Suspension: Front Shock
Absorber: Reassembly”
5. Install the front shock assembly, following the TRD Pro installation instruction: T-AI-0956-D
6. Confirm repair, and that condition is no longer present.
